Awards Day

On 25th March, the 1st Johor Bahru company held its 55th Awards Day at Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari. It is a grand 
activity for every Boys' Brigade company as this is day where the member's effort had been observed and awarded.

The rehersal started from 1.00 pm to 4.00pm at the basketball court. While the recruits sat under the tent chit 
chatting while enjoying the rehersal.Alot of ex BB members and parents attended the Award's day.

At 3.30pm, the drill down competition started.This is the first match where only 50 members will be chosen for
the second match. This year drill down competition is led by Warrant Officer Soon Hock Wei. Within 30minutes
the top 50 was shown and they are ready for the second match after the band performance.

At 4pm sharp, the guard of honour and the band gets ready for the arrival of the VIP that is Mr Michael Moorthy. BB Asia and BBM president and who is also the Honorary Captain of 1st JB company. After the General Salute, the VIP inspected the Guard of Honor accompanied by our Captain Mr Jason Chong. Then the VIP received another General Salute and the Guard of Honor march out from the parade ground with the band playing apple pie march.

After the march out, the band members get into position to perform a selection of songs alone with formations  conducted by Mr Soon Hock Wei. As the members parents saw, they were impressed and understood why their child
is always out for practice on the Saturday and Sunday. The next performance is the second match drill down, the
members in the drilldown were all ready. But suddenly,it started to rain.

As the rain got heavier, members quickly help the parents move to a shelter. Officers also helped shifting the 
things. Everyone is soaked in the rain,so do the officers. Yet there is no panic but calm and teamwork. Finally,
after all the things are bought to the shelter,the NCOs serve the parents with some refreshments.

Without delaying, the moment that members had waited had come,which is the awards section! The first award was members discharged to officer. Some Sgt and Cpl who were over 18 years old were discharged from their duties. They will be helper or instructor for individual platoon before they will be promoted to be Warrant Officer. This year, there are two NCO that had been discharged. For the second award,it is the BB month collection award. The highest amount collected in year 2011 is RM666 by Sgt Lim Yu Quan and Sgt Yong Jing Wen.
for the 2nd place, it goes to Sgt Cher Chia Yee with an amount of RM560.After that,the 1st Johor Bahru Company had
also awarded members who had scored 4As above in their PMR. In this important moment, the members parents personally helped their children to pin the Scholastic Awards on their uniform.

The following award is the Best Private and Best NCO from the 3 various platoon, platoon A,B and C. For platoon A the Best Pte goes to L/Cpl Phang Jia Pin and the Best NCO is Cpl Wang Yu Xuan. For platoon B, the Best Pte is L/Cpl Wong Chee Wai and Best NCO is Cpl Teoh Yin Qi. Lastly for platoon C Best Pte goes to L/cpl Pong Qui Wu and Best NCO is Cpl Oii An Jie.

At last, it is the time for promotion. This year, the 1st Johor Bahru Company had promoted 9 potentialed Cpl to  Sgt. 16 L/cpl to CPL,and 21 Pte to L/cpl. It is really a joy momment that 1st Johor Bahru company had born many leaders.

This year Awards day ended successfully under the heavy rain and sorry that because no photo is taken during that time.
